THE DENMARK
EFFEKT & WORDS FROM THE WET TROPICS BLOGS
CREATED FOR:
Presidential Fellowship project with the Bucknell Communications Office during the 2015 - 2016 year.
PROJECT SCOPE:
I wanted to create a blog blending design, photography, and writing to provide insight into the study abroad experience.
The next semester, I sought improvement after finding one of my shortcomings with my first blog, The Denmark Effekt, was my tendency to document everything that happened. For Words from the Wet Tropics, I followed a consistent design that other students could look to for both advice and a glimpse into what the abroad experience is like.
WHAT I DID:
This blog project helped me to experiment with new tools in the Adobe Creative Suite and really hone in on some of my drawing skills. I also wrote a story published on the Bucknell Website about how my time abroad complimented my academic experiences. Additionally, I was interviewed for the Spring 2016 issue of the Bucknell Magazine.
The next semester, I chose one word as my post theme for each week that I was in Australia. This helped me to target my thoughts and highlight my experiences with advice for students considering or preparing for a semester abroad. Additionally, I took over the @iamraybucknell Instagram account to share a week in the life of an Australian rainforest dweller.
