ORIGINAL - FALL 2014

REDESIGN - SPRING 2015

BUCKNELLIAN

NEWSPAPER

CREATED FOR:

The Bucknellian newspaper during the Spring 2015 semester, during which I served as Online Presentation Director and Graphics Editor.

PROJECT SCOPE:

To update the design of The Bucknellian so that it matched the paper’s professional approach to covering on campus news and events.

WHAT I DID:

As Web Presentation Director, I led the redesign of both the print and online versions of the paper during winter break between Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters. After researching other student papers, I created a new masthead and footer, chose new headline and copy fonts, and designed a new layout for the front and inside pages. During the semester, I designed several full color back page layouts for intensive print features including What the Frack (Jan. 30, 2015) and Chatting It Up with Thought Police (April 24, 2015).

PROJECT CONSTRAINTS:

Web redesign was limited by the constraints of working with the SNO Wordpress system. The newspaper has gone through several iterations of the website since 2015, which have been built off my initial redesign.

STATS:

During my term as Graphics Editor and Web Presentation Director (Fall 2014 – Spring 2015), there was a 275% increase in online hits.

PROGRAMS USED:

Adobe InDesign, Wordpress
